The Rebel Man Standard

Selfie- Hamish MacPherson, Jamila Johnson-Small, And Zinzi Minott

The Rebel Man Standard was a programme of training, research and public interventions by dance artists Jamila Johnson-Small, Hamish MacPherson and Zinzi Minott 2015/16.

The project explored the political potentials, and potential ramifications, of dance and choreographic practice, socially and for the body of the doer, through a range of activities: immersive research at Impulstanz Festival, simultaneous independent studio research, academic research, published writings, discussion groups, performance sharings, workshops and events.

This multi-faceted approach aimed to engage with dancers and wider audiences with an interest in politics and the arts, physically, intellectually, socially, historically, globally, to contribute to critical discourse and our own artistic development.
